Quality of Life

New Orleanians face multiple quality of life issues that extend outside of District C. Responses to these issues are generally managed by agencies under the mayor but the city council plays a crucial role keeping them accountable. These issues demand the same attention as creating innovative solutions for the city's other problems.

Crime

Jackson supports increased funding for education and job training. The city needs better paying jobs and opportunities for our residents, especially young people just out of school. Also, more investment must be made in re-entry services to help the formerly incarcerated become productive members of our community. He does not support allowing minors under 18 years old to be tried as adults.

Infrastucture

Jackson promises to hold the mayor and department of public works accountable to get infrastructure work completed with minimal disruptions. Projects must be completed before starting a new section. They should be fixed right the first time so that the same streets aren't dug up over and over. Jackson has worked in the construction industry for over a decade and understands the importance of quality infrastructure.

Bourbon Street

Jackson supports making Bourbon Street a pedestrian-only street. Removable bollards and delivery times would allow businesses to accept deliveries early in the morning. Overall, he advocates for creating a pedestrian zone over the commercial area of the French Quarter. He supports exploring ideas like super blocks to create a more walkable area.
